Moses and the Red Sea
Moses leads his people out of Egypt, and the sea opens a path right through the middle.

Let my people go
The Israelites had been slaves in Egypt for a very long time. Moses went to the king again and again with the same message: let my people go. Again and again the king said no.
At last, after many warnings, the king agreed. The Israelites gathered what they could carry and left Egypt in a great crowd, walking toward freedom.

Trapped at the water
Then the king changed his mind and sent his chariots after them. The Israelites reached the shore of the Red Sea and stopped. Water ahead, an army behind, and nowhere to go.
People were frightened and angry. Moses told them to stand still and watch.

A path through the sea
Moses stretched out his hand over the water, and a strong wind blew all night. The sea divided, and a dry path opened right through the middle with walls of water on either side.
Everyone crossed safely. When the army followed, the water came back together. On the far shore the people sang and danced, because they were free.
